My point of last week's Theme for Thursday was an interesting fact...At work we were discussing the meaning behind "Ring Around the Rosie" and I thought, WOW...
That's my Theme for the week...So...Here is the meaning behind...
RING AROUND THE ROSIE...
Ring around the rosy
A pocketful of posies
"Ashes, Ashes"
We all fall down!
Ring-a-Ring o'Rosies
A Pocket full of Posies
"A-tishoo! A-tishoo!"
We all fall Down!

I grew up with the first one - but I've heard the second one before! To answer Terronda's question - I'm pretty sure it was how the identified the black plaque (although I could be getting the disease wrong). There would be sores with rings around them - and that was a pretty sure sign they'd die. Bodies were burned - thus the ashes!
if you read the blog post and click the picture of the plague doctor...you will get the history of RING AROUND THE ROSIE...
